Arda Guler made a memorable La Liga debut as Real Madrid secured a victory over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Friday night. However, the match also marked a significant milestone for Eder Militao, who made his first start in over eight months.

Militao had been sidelined since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Athletic Club on the first matchday. Following a strenuous seven-month rehabilitation, he returned off the bench against the same team in March. Since then, he has made substitute appearances against Mallorca, Manchester City, and Barcelona. His start against La Real was his first since the injury, as coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to include him in the starting lineup.

Ancelotti praised Militao’s performance post-match and mentioned that he is considering Militao for a starting position in the upcoming game against Bayern Munich. He stated, “Militao came back and played very well. It’s an option I have for Munich, and I’ll evaluate it in the coming days. He is gradually returning to his best level—he’s not at 100% yet, but he has time to improve.”

For the crucial match at the Allianz Arena, the choice for Ancelotti will be between Militao and Nacho Fernandez to partner with Antonio Rudiger. Given Nacho’s outstanding performance against Manchester City two weeks prior and Militao’s ongoing recovery to full match fitness, Nacho is currently the favored choice to start against Bayern Munich.
